We (both mom and dad) love Sierra! Sierra is excited to be a doula and is energetic. Of course we had a birth "plan" that we would labor at home for as long as possible and wanted Sierra to join us at home to help with that process before the hospital. Well, as is bound to happen when you make a plan, my body had other ideas and my water broke without any contractions. I had to go into the hospital and was there for eight hours with no activity. I kept Sierra in the know via text while I wasn't having contractions and she was even helpful before we were together. She reminded me of what questions I might want to ask about any possible interventions and that I had choices about my care. Once I actually started having some contractions, Sierra joined us at the hospital. She gave me ideas for positions in which to labor, accessories to use, she had oils that were calming and massaged my neck and feet. She was extremely encouraging, telling me that I was doing great.
From dad's perspective, he valued her presence just as much as I did! Sierra reminded him of things that we discussed for pain management to help me cope. She reminded him to eat, and use the bathroom, and try to sleep. It was nice for both of us parents to have her as a third person who was much more objective and calm while we were so excited to meet our boy and a little nervous about labor and delivry.
Everything went so smoothly and we really appreciate all of Sierra's help, encouragement, and knowledge. We would definitely hire her again and refer her to our friends!

Sierra was wonderful. As a single mom of a pregnant 17 year old I was thrilled to have another "body" at the delivery of my grandson. Sierra took the time prior to delivery to get to know both myself and my daughter and was able to offer great suggestions on dealing with the various pains of pregnancy and delivery that my daughter was experiencing. Just having her at the delivery was very comforting for me. Sierra has a great, relaxed personality. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.

Sierra was great! It was great having another person in the delivery room with me. It was nice having another support person for me and my mom. She helped me with my breathing and helped me stay calm. It was nice having someone there to remind my mom that I dont mean what I am saying and that it was only said out of pain. She took the time to come and visit and meet me and my mom before delivery, she came once a week and met with us and showed us different positions and massages that could help during delivery, she was great at helping me remember the questions I wanted to ask and helped me stick to my birth plan. She has an amazing personality and she is really relaxed. I was able to connect with her really quick. She was great to have in the delivery room and I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a doula!

Sierra ended up being the only doula we interviewed because we knew, after our interview, she would bring a calming energy to our home birth.
We called Sierra when I was finally in active labor. Unfortunately, our midwife did not communicate things effectively and our entire team thought I was progressing. I wasn't. Sierra helped keep stress down, hope alive, and was my lead pain reliever with her massages.
48 hours after Sierra arrived, we finally gave up on the natural home birth plan and our midwife transferred us to a hospital. At the hospital, it was Sierra who stayed with us even though most midwives automatically become your doula. My midwife came in, gave a brief report to the OB nurse and then left us, promising to visit - although she never did. Sierra slept in our room, scrutched up on a wooden rocking chair that night.
Meconium was now being observed in my water. My physician explained to us, after a 30 second internal exam and reading results from an internal monitor, that my baby was transverse and too large, I was dilated only 2 cm, my cervix was tilted, and he was concerned that the cord was wrapped around the baby's neck (meconium and telltales from the internal monitor results).
The physician pushed for a c-section, something I did not want. I was scared. After conversing with my husband & Sierra, we determined that a c-section was the safest route. Sierra prepped my husband and parents on what to expect with this c-section before she stayed with my parents, keeping everyone at ease.
After the c-section and recovery, we had to send Sierra home to her son and husband. She had protected us for three days and two nights. I feel terrible that we stole her for that long. We are eternally grateful for her supportive role on our team during this long ride. I doubt I would have held it together without her. My parents adored her and my husband calls her our birthing angel :)
